Have a Wish Worth Dying For? Netflix’s First Korean YA Horror Series ‘If Wishes Could Kill’ Premieres April 24

Be careful what you wish for - especially on an app. Netflix has set April 24 as the global premiere date of If Wishes Could Kill , its first Korean YA horror series, and unveiled the teaser trailer and poster. Centered on a wish-granting app called Girigo that demands a deadly price, the series blends school-life drama with occult chills and a rising young cast. While delivering suspense, occult elements and the dread of an inescapable countdown, If Wishes Could Kill focuses also on friendship, growth and emotional bonds, as much as it does on scares.

Set at Seorin High School, If Wishes Could Kill follows five friends - Yoo Se-ah (Jeon So-young), Lim Na-ri (Kang Mi-na), Kim Geon-woo (Baek Sun-ho), Kang Ha-joon (Hyun Woo-seok), and Choi Hyeong-wook (Lee Hyo-je) - whose ordinary days are shattered when their wishes start coming true under terrifying conditions. Director Park Youn-seo, who previously served as second unit director on Kingdom Season 2 and co-directed Moving , helms the series with a script by Park Joong-seop.

The newly released teaser focuses on atmosphere and unease, offering a glimpse of the friends' descent into the curse of Girigo. Beginning with Hyeong-wook running at Se-ah in the middle of class with an ominous timer ticking, the teaser trailer shows teens recording their wishes and sending them through the Girigo app, only to be thrown into chaos and horror.

If Wishes Could Kill follows in the footsteps of Netflix's commitment to backing up-and-coming talent, as well as expanding the range of its Korean series lineup - from romantic comedies and revenge thrillers to its first YA horror story.

If Wishes Could Kill premieres April 24, only on Netflix.
