Cooperation with Marienpark Berlin on resilience technologies

TUM expands its venturing activities to Berlin

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is expanding its network of locations to Berlin. The TUM Venture Labs for aerospace & defense and for software & AI will in future be represented at Marienpark, the Resilience Technology Campus in the south of Berlin, where they will support specialized startups.

TUM is expanding its network of locations to Berlin. Marienpark Berlin offers startups specialized infrastructure for the defense and security sectors.

The aim of the strategic partnership is to establish a leading European network for startups in the field of defense and security. Linking Germany's two largest startup communities is intended to provide founders with access to the resources of both locations - Munich and Berlin.

Together with its TUM Venture Labs, TUM brings direct access at Marienpark to relevant stakeholders - from academia, politics and federal authorities to venture capital, security and defense companies, operators of critical infrastructure and civil protection organizations. This will help bring deep tech innovations into practice more quickly.

Highly secured infrastructure for sensitive products

As a Resilience Technology Campus, Marienpark Berlin offers secure data centers, laboratories, protected development and production areas as well as test environments on land, on water and in the air. The TUM Venture Labs, a joint initiative of TUM and UnternehmerTUM, support technology-driven spin-offs in a wide range of industries in translating scientific findings into market-ready products.

TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann emphasizes: "New realities in business, security and democratic cohesion require TUM as an entrepreneurial university to act decisively and, through alliances, to make effective contributions to innovation and stability. TUM already has a clear strategy and is represented at numerous locations in Bavaria, across Germany and internationally. Now we are joining forces with Marienpark Berlin to accelerate entrepreneurial startup activities focused on resilience technologies in a mission-oriented ecosystem."

The CEO of TUM Venture Labs, Dr. Philipp Gerbert, emphasizes: "Many technologies in the security and defense sector cannot be developed in the lab alone. With its highly secured facilities, data centers and testing grounds, Marienpark Berlin provides the conditions needed to further develop and test innovations under real-world conditions."

The Managing Partner of Marienpark Berlin GmbH, Rupprecht Rittweger, says: "TUM Venture Labs have extensive experience in turning excellent science into successful deep tech companies in the field of security and defense. Through this cooperation, Marienpark Berlin makes this expertise accessible to founders and companies. Connecting different locations accelerates the development and scaling of resilience technologies."

With this expansion at Marienpark Berlin, TUM is strengthening its mission-driven presence addressing the challenges of metropolitan regions in Singapore, the digital transformation of German medium-sized companies at the TUM Campus Heilbronn, and Europe's sovereignty in aerospace at the TUM Campus Ottobrunn-Taufkirchen.
