Solidarity statement on the earthquake in Venezuela

The World Federation of Trade Unions expresses its sincere condolences to the people of Venezuela, who are mourning the loss of dozens of lives due to the earthquake that struck Caracas and nearby districts such as La Guaira, Chacao, and Baruta.

According to the reports so far, the 7.5 magnitude earthquake has resulted in many deaths, injuries, and severe material damage across the affected areas.

The international class-oriented trade union movement extends its heartfelt condolences and calls for the immediate provision of safe accommodation and healthcare for all affected people, as well as full compensation for the damages.

Our thoughts are with the families and relatives of the victims. The WFTU reaffirms its commitment to intensifying the struggle for adequate protection measures in all aspects of people's lives across the globe.
