21 loaded firearms as well as drugs seized by police during search warrant. One man arrested: R26-24585

In May of 2026, the Winnipeg Police Service's Organized Crime Unit (OCU) commenced an investigation regarding the report of drug trafficking at a residence in the Central Park neighbourhood.

On May 7, 2026, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, OCU executed a search warrant on a suite in an apartment in the 399 block of Cumberland Avenue.

A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • 21 loaded restricted handguns
  • Silencer
  • Mixture of ammunition of various calibres
  • 27 grams of cocaine (estimated street value = $2,160)
  • Approximately $25,000 in Canadian currency
  • Laptop
  • 2 cell phones

Jawad MIAKHAIL, (24), has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition x 21
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Ammunition, Prohibited Weapon or Device x 22
  • Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations x 21
  • Possession of a Weapon x 21
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession for the Purpose of Weapons Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine

He was detained in custody.
