War with Iran, military policy and legal perspectives top ABA national security policy discussion

WASHINGTON, March 30, 2026 - Top national security and policy experts will discuss the policy and legal challenges brought on by the war with Iran, April 2, in Washington, D.C.

The discussion topic, "Assessing the War with Iran: Military, Policy and Legal Perspectives," will assess the war through a military, policy and legal scope. With the threat of escalation this week on various fronts, along with Iran responding with regional attacks, the panel will assess where we are and where we might be heading along with the military policy and legal implications of doing so.

Panelists include James E. Baker, director, Syracuse University Institute for Security Policy and Law; retired Vice Admiral Robert Murrett, professor of practice, Department of Public Administration and International Affairs and deputy director, Institute for Security Policy and Law; and Elisa Ewers, senior national security advisor and foreign policy expert and a senior fellow on the Council on Foreign Relations.
