FRANKFURT, Germany - April 15, 2026 - Avient Corporation, an innovator of materials solutions, will showcase advanced material technologies that enable breakthrough performance in extreme conditions at Techtextil 2026 (Hall 11.1, Booth D18, April 21-24). The company's Dyneema® ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers and composites, and Fiber-Line™ coated yarns and functionalized fibers, address critical material challenges facing performance brands, outdoor gear manufacturers, sporting goods companies, and medical textile manufacturers.

Eliminating the Weight-Strength Tradeoff
Performance brands and gear manufacturers face persistent material challenges: achieving exceptional strength and durability without adding weight. Athletes and active consumers demand lighter footwear and apparel that can withstand intense use. Mountaineers and backcountry adventurers need gear that survives harsh conditions while remaining light enough for multi-day expeditions. Medical textile manufacturers for applications like orthopedic braces require materials that provide support without bulk or discomfort. Traditional materials force compromises-lighter options sacrifice durability, while stronger materials add unwanted weight and stiffness.

"Textile manufacturers are constantly pushing boundaries, but material limitations have held them back," said Chiharu Pidgeon, Global Business Manager, Fabrics & Composites for Dyneema® at Avient Corporation. "Our technologies can address the traditional weight-strength tradeoff. Dyneema® fiber delivers 15 times the strength of steel at a fraction of the weight, while our Fiber-Line™ Engineered Fibers provide tailored functionality-abrasion resistance, water repellency, and flexibility-exactly where it's needed."

Dyneema® UHMWPE Fibers and Composites
Dyneema® ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber-15 times stronger than steel by weight yet light enough to float on water-enables up to 70% weight reduction in technical applications as well as exceptional abrasion resistance, UV and chemical resistance, and low moisture absorption for outdoor applications, including:

Premium Outdoor and Mountaineering Gear:

  • Ultra-lightweight backpacks for maintaining load capacity and durability
  • High-performance tents and tarps with exemplary tear resistance for extreme alpine and backcountry conditions
  • Expedition-grade equipment surviving UV exposure, extreme temperatures, and repeated mechanical stress

High-Performance Gear:

  • Lightweight protective equipment for extreme sports
  • Durable, abrasion-resistant materials for demanding athletic applications

Also Featured at Techtextil 2026, Dyneema® Woven Composites: with precision-layered construction delivering superior dimensional stability, waterproof performance, and resistance to repeated mechanical stress-engineered for demanding mountaineering and extreme-condition applications.
