(Baltimore, MD) - Maryland Congressman Johnny Olszewski today applauded Anduril Industries' plans to build a new advanced manufacturing facility at Tradepoint Atlantic in Sparrows Point, a $3.7 billion investment expected to create 3,100 direct jobs and more than 10,000 indirect jobs building Virginia-class submarines for the U.S. Navy.
"Every family deserves the dignity that comes with a good paycheck, and this project will help deliver that promise to thousands of Marylanders," said Congressman Johnny Olszewski. "As someone whose roots run deep in Sparrows Point, I know what this historic site has meant to generations of Marylanders. I've had the privilege of fighting for its future as a state delegate, Baltimore County Executive, U.S. Congressman - and, most importantly, as someone who has always called this community home.
"For years, we've worked to transform Sparrows Point from a symbol of industrial decline into a center of opportunity, and today's announcement is a powerful sign of how far we've come. This investment - with the help of commitments by the State of Maryland and Baltimore County - brings good-paying jobs, advanced manufacturing and new capabilities that will strengthen our national security back to a site with a proud history of building for America.
"I'm proud of the role I've played in helping lay the groundwork for Sparrows Point's next chapter, and I'm even prouder to see that work creating new opportunities for working families. This is an investment in Baltimore County, in Maryland's manufacturing future and in the workers who will build it."
