Walberg Invites Students to Participate in 2026 Congressional App Challenge

Today, Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-05) announced his office is accepting submissions from students in Michigan's 5th District for the 2026 Congressional App Challenge. This nationwide competition encourages middle and high school students, individually or in teams, to design and program a software application on a platform of their choice.

"Technology and innovation continue to play an increasingly important role in our economy and everyday lives," said Rep. Walberg. "The Congressional App Challenge provides students with an opportunity to strengthen their STEM skills, explore computer science, and showcase their creativity. I encourage students from across Michigan's 5th District to participate in this year's challenge, and I look forward to seeing the innovative projects they create."

The deadline to enter the competition is October 26, 2026, after which local judges selected by Congressman Walberg's office will evaluate the submissions and select a winning app. The competition is open to all eligible middle and high school students, regardless of coding experience. The winning app from Michigan's 5th District will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol alongside winning entries from congressional districts across the country.
