Via Christi has expanded the role of Mike Wegner, its current Chief Financial Officer, to include the responsibilities of Chief Operating Officer for the Kansas market, effective Aug. 31.
In this expanded role, Wegner will continue to leverage his financial expertise while leading operational strategy and execution. Serving as Chief Financial Officer since January 2024, he has been instrumental in strengthening the operational rigor of Via Christi's Kansas market. His track record of operational excellence has been recognized throughout the organization, reflected in his recent award for 'Operational Rigor' at a national meeting of Ascension financial executives.

Wegner's new responsibilities include working closely with COOs at Via Christi's hospitals and other sites of care, engaging with Ascension's national COO community to facilitate better real-time communication to market COOs, and helping to drive key operational initiatives and key performance indicators. He will also lead relationships with partner agencies and vendors to drive efficient, high-quality operations throughout the Kansas market.
Wegner holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Central University of Iowa. He also earned a Master in Six Sigma - Healthcare certification from Villanova University and participated in the Executive Program in Managed Care at Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
