Pedestrian Critically Injured in Hit & Run Crash Dies

The pedestrian critically injured in Saturday's 5:50 p.m. hit and run crash at the intersection of Dr. DB Todd Jr. Boulevard and Buchanan Street has died.

Andrea Orr, 59, of Nashville, was transported to St. Thomas Midtown Hospital hours after she was struck in the crosswalk. The driver of the car, Danielle McKell, 19, drove off after she and other individuals in the area moved Orr to the sidewalk. North Precinct officers were flagged down at 10:40 p.m. and she was taken to the hospital.

Investigation by Traffic Division Officer Christopher Augustin led to yesterday's identification of McKell as the driver of the car. She has been issued two state citations charging her with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk resulting in serious injury. In discussion with the District Attorney's Office, those charges will be upgraded in the near future.
