Washington, D.C. - This week, Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) accepted the Former Members of Congress (FMC) 29th Annual Statesmanship Award in recognition of his outstanding commitment to bipartisanship. The FMC Statesmanship Award is given to two members of the House and Senate each year, as well as a corporate sponsor, in recognition of public servants who go above and beyond to deliver for the U.S. In addition to Senator Warnock, this year's Congressional Honorees were Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman John Boozman (R-AR), Congressman Bill Huizenga (R-MI-04), and Congressman Gregory Meeks (D-NY-05).
"Thank you so very much for this honor," said Senator Reverend Warnock. "I do a lot of bipartisan work, and I think that's what we ought to be doing. We are going to have policy differences. But the idea is that in all of our differences-at the end of the day-we're one family, the American family. We are all we've got."
"FMC's Statesmanship Awards are about the key qualities that a statesman embodies: leadership, wisdom, respect, and prioritizing public good over partisan interest," said FMC CEO Pete Weichlein. "Few legislators represent these values as well as Senator Warnock. Whether it's through his efforts to uplift Georgia's rural communities or improve healthcare for all Americans, Senator Warnock has remained committed to ideas that reach across the aisle and benefit all. We're proud to honor him alongside Senator Boozman as our 2026 Senate Statesmanship Awards Honorees."
FMC first began celebrating its Statesmanship Awards in 1997, as a way to recognize members of Congress that emulate the organization's core values of bipartisanship and commitment to civic service. Past Honorees include President George H.W. Bush, former Congressman John Lewis, Senator Lisa Murkowski, and Senator Joe Manchin. Senator Warnock was named the 14th most bipartisan member of Congress by The Lugar Center and Georgetown University's McCourt School in 2024.
