Chinese Consul General in Brisbane Sun Zhaoyang Attends the “China Day” Reception hosted by the Queensland Parliament

On 16 September 2026, Consul-General Dr SUN Zhaoyang was invited to attend the "China Day" Reception at the Queensland Parliament and delivered a speech. The event was hosted by Co-Chairs of "Parliament Friends of China" Rob Molhoek MP and Peter Russell MP, and undertaken by the Queensland Chinese United Council. More than thirty Members of the Queensland Parliament including Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates, Leader of Opposition Steven Miles, as well as Deputy Consul-General Mr YANG Chenqi and Deputy Consul-General Ms Li Suyun , and more than 100 friends from various sectors in Queensland attended.

SUN introduced the Global Governance Initiative and China's achievements in Chinese modernization. SUN stated that China-Queensland cooperation has a solid foundation and broad prospects, and that China-Queensland friendship grows ever stronger with time. He expected that, taking the 2032 Brisbane Olympics as an opportunity, the two sides will deepen cooperation in various fields, advance people-to-people friendship, and work together to create a better tomorrow for China-Queensland relations.

The guests at the event warmly welcome Consul-General Dr SUN to his new post, and affirmed that China's development is an opportunity for the world and expressed their willingness to contribute to deepening Queensland-China exchanges and cooperation and enhancing friendship.
