On 4 June 2026, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Royal Thai Government, delivered opening remarks at the 4th Research Conference on Forced Displacement, together with Ms. Melinda Good, Division Director for Thailand and Myanmar, World Bank, and Ms. Hai Kyung Jun, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific. In attendance were representatives from relevant stakeholders worldwide, including governments, academia, development and humanitarian agencies, international organizations, and civil society organizations.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary reaffirmed Thailand's unwavering commitment to take care of, provide assistance to, and explore durable solutions for the displaced populations in Thailand. He also underscored the importance of robust displacement data in developing informed and evidence-based solutions for displaced persons, as well as reiterated Thailand's readiness to work with stakeholders to enhance self-reliance for the displaced persons in a sustainable manner.
The 4th Research Conference on Forced Displacement has been organized by the World Bank-UNHCR Joint Data Center on Forced Displacement between 4 - 6 June 2026 with an aim to enhance exchanges of information and views on displacement among participants, focusing on solutions, inclusion and self-reliance.
