Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Climate Impact Partners on its large-scale afforestation and restoration project in Colombia and its funding arrangements with Aviva Investors.
The Llanos Vivos project is being developed by Climate Impact Partners alongside &Forest, with funding provided by Aviva Investors. Climate Impact Partners is the project originator and delivery partner to Aviva Investors with &Forest serving as on-the-ground implementation partner.
The afforestation and restoration initiative is located in Colombia's Vichada region and is expected to transform degraded grassland into a biodiverse forest resulting in carbon removal outcomes.
The Norton Rose Fulbright team advising on the transaction was led by London-based partner Laura Kiwelu who was supported by counsel Claire Whitney and associate William Adams.
Laura Kiwelu commented:
"We are pleased to have supported Climate Impact Partners on this significant afforestation and restoration project, which reflects the continued momentum of nature-based carbon solutions. This transaction builds on our extensive experience advising on similar projects in South America and sub-Saharan Africa."
