NGA Issues Statement following Shooting at White House Correspondents Dinner

NGA Chair Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma and Vice Chair Governor Wes Moore of Maryland issued the following statement regarding the shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington, D.C.:

"The nation's governors are relieved to learn that the President, First Lady, and all those in attendance are safe following last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner.

"We thank the Secret Service and law enforcement personnel for their swift action and efforts to ensure the safety of all in attendance, and we pray for a swift recovery for the Secret Service agent who was shot.

"Violence is unacceptable. In moments like this, we are reminded that unity, civility, and respect for one another matter more than ever."
