Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Switzerland

On March 12, in Bern, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Ignazio Cassis, Vice President and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation. The latter hosted the Foreign Minister of Armenia for a working lunch in the Beatrice von Wattenwyl House, the guesthouse of the Federal Council located in the historic center of Bern.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the dynamically developing political dialogue between Armenia and Switzerland and reaffirmed their readiness to further expand cooperation across various areas. In this context, the importance of the decision of the Government of Armenia to open an embassy in Bern was emphasized as a significant political impetus for expanding and substantively enriching the bilateral agenda.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Ignazio Cassis also exchanged views on developments in the South Caucasus and the Middle East.

Minister Mirzoyan presented the steps aimed at further institutionalizing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Minister Mirzoyan highly appreciated Switzerland's support both for the continued strengthening of democratic institutions in Armenia and for addressing humanitarian issues, including the needs of refugees displaced from Karabakh.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Switzerland also exchanged views on a range of topics of mutual interest.
