Netflix unveils main trailer and release date for The Gift of Deceit, new melodrama starring Marieta Severo, Alice Wegmann, and Nanda Costta

São Paulo, September 30, 2026 - Get ready for the unexpected: in this story, nothing is quite what it seems. Netflix today unveiled the trailer for The Gift of Deceit , its new Brazilian melodrama series starring Marieta Severo, Alice Wegmann, and Nanda Costta. The 10-episode series set in Rio de Janeiro premieres October 28. Directed by Mauro Mendonça Filho, the show promises to keep audiences hooked with a gripping story of family intrigue, manipulation, and shocking twists.

Desperate to find a cure for the unknown illness afflicting her daughter, Maíra Rossetti (Alice Wegmann), art collector Lúcia Rossetti (Marieta Severo) turns to a spiritual therapist (Nanda Costta) for help. But when Lúcia becomes the victim of a scam, a web of secrets begins to unravel, exposing the deep ties between two families bound by love, control, resentment, and guilt.

The cast also includes big melodrama stars in the country: José de Abreu, Felipe Camargo, Luciana Paes, Laila Garin, Rui Ricardo Diaz, Heloisa Jorge, Allan Souza Lima, Jonas Bloch, Giovanna de Jesus, José Mata, Thiago Justino, Hamilton Dias, Laura Vick, Yanna Lavigne, and Rosanna Viegas.

The Gift of Deceit is produced by Conspiração for Netflix, with Amaia serving as associate producer. The series was created by Diane Maia and Mirna Nogueira, who also serves as head writer alongside the team of writers Carol Rodrigues, Felipe Sholl, Josefina Trotta, and Pedro Riguetti.
