Author and expressive arts therapist Dr. Zelda Lockhart will lead Fatherhood in Root & Word, a writing workshop centered on healing the generational wounds of our fathers from 10 am-noon, Saturday, October 4, at the McGirt-Horton Branch, 2501 Phillips Ave. This workshop will involve genealogical research and personal writing and is free and open to adult writers at all levels of experience.
Dr. Zelda Lockhart is a current Fulbright Specialist engaged in cross-cultural story projects for generational healing. She holds a PhD in Expressive Art Therapies, and an MA in Literature. She is winner of the Lambda Literary Foundation 2024 Outstanding Mid-career Novelist Prize. Her novels include Trinity, Cold Running Creek and Fifth Born II: The Hundredth Turtle. Lockhart's healing methods can be found in her book The Soul of the Full-Length Manuscript: Turning Life's Wounds into the Gift of Literary Fiction, Memoir, or Poetry.
