Arkansas Department of Health Launches Claim Your Care HotlineToll-Free Number Offers Scheduling for Pregnancy Testing, Prenatal Care, and More

Little Rock, Ark. - The Arkansas Department of Health has launched the Claim Your Care Hotline to help women connect with pregnancy testing, prenatal care, and other services. The toll-free number, 1-844-808-2340, is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Callers can find their nearest Arkansas Health Unit (AHU), get answers to questions about services provided at AHUs, and schedule an appointment for women's and maternal health services. Callers who need language assistance can be connected with an interpreter through a three-way call.

Services available at AHUs include pregnancy testing; prenatal care, including blood work, women's health services, infectious disease screenings, gestational diabetes testing, blood pressure monitoring, fetal heart rate checks, and growth monitoring; postpartum care, breastfeeding support, and mental health screenings; enrollment in WIC; and referrals to care.

"Regular prenatal care can help reduce the risk of serious complications and death for both mothers and babies," Dr. Kay Chandler, Arkansas Surgeon General, said. "Early and regular visits allow healthcare providers to identify and manage health concerns early, including gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, and other complications that may arise during pregnancy and delivery."

The Claim Your Care campaign, launched by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders in May 2026, is a maternal health education initiative aimed at raising awareness of the range of maternal health services available through AHUs statewide. It focuses on reaching people where they are, education on what services are available, and providing access points for earlier care.

The campaign's goal is to help women know their local AHU can be a first point of care before, during, or after pregnancy. This convenient access to care supports the state's broader effort to improve maternal health outcomes through the Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies Act. This law, championed by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders in 2025, expands support and services for mothers and infants across Arkansas. Making care easier to access can help families get a healthier start.

Arkansas has AHUs across all 75 counties. Appointments are not required, although they are encouraged to ensure the right provider is available and ready to assist. While AHUs do accept insurance, if a person does not have insurance or has a limited ability to pay, services are provided at no out-of-pocket cost.
