In White Pine County, Rosen Helps Kickoff Construction of First Drinking Water System

BAKER, NV - U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) recently joined the Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) in Baker, Nevada, for the ceremonial groundbreaking of the first-ever drinking water system in the Lehman Creek Residential Area. After more than 25 years since its original proposal, this project was made possible by more than $4 million in federal funding that Senator Rosen helped secure. Up until now, residents of Lehman Creek have had to rely on water from creeks or drying private wells, which lack proper filtration or sanitation.

"Access to drinking water is a basic necessity for every Nevadan, and I'll keep working tirelessly to make sure all communities have access to safe, clean water," said U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen. "I am proud to have helped secure millions of dollars in federal funding for the first public drinking water system for Lehman Creek Residential Area, bringing a much-needed resource to a community that had been waiting for years. As long as I'm in the Senate, I will continue fighting to make sure that every community in Nevada gets its fair share of federal resources."

One of Senator Rosen's main priorities is ensuring that every Nevadan has access to safe drinking water. In May, she introduced a bill to help protect drinking water infrastructure during extreme heat conditions. Senator Rosen also helped deliver federal funding to a water infrastructure project in Carlin. Last year, Senator Rosen helped secure close to $20 million in federal funding to increase access to clean drinking water for families across Nevada.
