City of Evansville to Host Third Block-by-Block Neighborhood Revitalization Event of 2026

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - August 25, 2026 - The City of Evansville will host its third Block-by-Block event of 2026 on Friday, September 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Glenwood/Culver neighborhood.

The event will bring city services directly into the neighborhood, strengthening connections between residents and the resources available to them and supporting ongoing neighborhood revitalization efforts. As part of the event, the City will demolish its 120th blighted home through Mayor Stephanie Terry's Flight Blight initiative, which focuses on identifying and addressing blighted properties throughout Evansville.

"Everyone deserves to live in a neighborhood that is safe, vibrant, and welcoming," said Mayor Stephanie Terry. "Block-by-Block is about bringing together city departments, residents, volunteers, and community partners to create meaningful, lasting improvements. By coming together, we are restoring pride in our neighborhoods and building a stronger Evansville, one block at a time."

The September 11 cleanup will be held in partnership with United Way of Southwestern Indiana's Day of Caring, the largest coordinated volunteer service event in the area. Day of Caring brings volunteers together to provide nonprofit organizations across Vanderburgh, Spencer, and Warrick counties with hands-on support and resources to further their missions. This year's United Way Day of Caring will take place in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of Patriot Day and the National Day of Service and Remembrance for the lives lost on 9-11-2001.

Since the launch of Block-by-Block in 2024, the city has collected more than 20,000 tons of trash across seven neighborhoods and has seen significant reductions in trash and weed violations.
