ATTORNEY GENERAL RAOUL CHARGES BOONE COUNTY ATTORNEY WITH AGGRAVATED BATTERY, SEXUAL ABUSE

Chicago - Attorney General Kwame Raoul charged a Poplar Grove, Illinois man with aggravated battery and criminal sexual abuse.
Raoul's office charged Russell J. Luchtenburg, 75, in Boone County Circuit Court with four counts of Class 3 felony aggravated battery, each punishable by up to five years in prison, and two counts of Class 4 felony criminal sexual abuse, each punishable by up to three years in prison. Sentences are ultimately determined by the court.
"Attorneys are held to a higher standard of personal conduct, and it is unconscionable when they break the laws that they have taken an oath to uphold," Raoul said. "I will continue to partner with local law enforcement to hold offenders accountable and keep our communities safe."
The charges stem from investigations by the Belvidere Police Department and the Boone County Sheriff's Office.
The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Assistant Attorney General Lorraine Scaduto is prosecuting the case for Raoul's office.
