Some users of the TidalHealth MyChart application have reported that they received fraudulent messages that pretended to come from MyChart. If you receive an email that looks like it came from MyChart please check the domain name in the email address.
If it is not from "@tidalhealth.org" it is spam; do not click on the link and delete the email.
"Much like credit card companies, insurance companies and retailers whose names are utilized by bad actors, MyChart is a trusted brand which scammers can try to impersonate in order to catch someone with their guard down," said TidalHealth Supervisor of Digital Engagement Jenny Harsin. "We want to make sure that everyone knows that nothing will ever come from MyChart or TidalHealth from any domain name other than @tidalhealth.org."
These messages are not targeting MyChart users. They are targeting active email addresses and hoping they can get a MyChart user to click on a malicious link.
The scams initially began with a message claiming the recipient had won a "MyChart Medicare Kit" but those messages have continued to evolve and the subjects have changed.
"It's still the same tactic, but different messaging," Harsin said. "They are getting more robust and professional looking."
