Regarding Assignment of Chapter 7 Cases
Effective October 12, 2026
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, pending approval of proposed changes to Local Bankruptcy Rules 1072-1 and 1072-2, that Administrative Order No. 17-02 is vacated and the following shall apply regarding assignment of cases:
Eastern Division Cases
Chapter 7 cases from all counties in the Eastern Division must be randomly assigned among the Eastern Division judges, regardless of the county where the debtor's residence or place of business is located.
If a debtor in a Chapter 7 case was a debtor in a previous Chapter 7 case, the new case must be assigned to the judge assigned in the previous case, unless that judge is no longer serving.
