Three May 9 Commencement Ceremonies Scheduled

Millersville University will honor the graduating students of the Class of 2026 at three ceremonies on May 9 in Pucillo Gymnasium. Each ceremony will feature an address by a Millersville alumnus and a moment of reflection by a graduate. Additional information is available at https://www.millersville.edu/commencement/.

Rev. Dr. Dexter L. Davis Sr. '77

Students from the College of Education and Human Services will receive their diplomas at a 9 a.m. ceremony. Their address will be given by Rev. Dr. Dexter L. Davis Sr. '77.

Davis was born and raised in Chester, Penn., where he attended the Chester Upland Public Schools and graduated from Chester High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education with a minor in sociology at Millersville University and was a charter member of the Eta Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and a peer mentor. After graduating from Millersville, he received a master's degree in public administration from West Chester University and a doctorate in school administration from Widener University.

Davis retired from the Chester Upland School District, where he served as a teacher, coach, dean of students, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. He has worked in educational institutions throughout the Philadelphia region, and most recently served as senior director of education at Carson Valley Children Aid in Flourtown, Penn. He was also given the responsibility by Foundations, Inc., of managing five schools in the Northwest Region of the School District of Philadelphia. Davis served as an adjunct professor at Widener, Cheyney and Drexel universities. A member of several boards that impact the lives of children and adults in Delaware County, he has received many educational, community and leadership awards.

Davis is an ordained Baptist minister. He serves as an associate pastor at Bethany Baptist Church in Chester, Penn. He is a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and a member of the Epsilon Pi Chapter in Chester, having served two terms as president, and is a two-time recipient of the Chapter's Omega Man of the Year Award. Davis also serves as chapter advisor for Alpha Epsilon Xi of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., at Widener University.

A member of the Millersville University Foundation Board of Directors, he is a contributor to the African-American/Latino Alumni Scholarship and was a donor for the Divine Nine & Cultural Greek Council Unity Plots. Davis was selected as a 2024 Marvelous Marauder and is a member of the Golden Swan Society.

He resides in Wilmington, Del., with his wife, Rev. Michelle Meekins-Davis, whom he met and dated on the campus of then Millersville State College. They have two adult sons, the late Dexter Jr. and Ian; daughter-in-law, Magan; and two grandchildren, Julian and Zuri.

Dr. Mitchell Crawford '09

The College of Science and Technology will honor its graduates at ceremony beginning at 1 p.m. Dr. Mitchell Crawford '09 will offer remarks.

Crawford serves as the medical director of addiction services for WellSpan Health as well as the medical director for the Specialized Treatment and Recovery Team at WellSpan. He is also cofounder and chief executive officer of Sunflower Health, an app that simulates a real-time expert behavioral health consultation, leveraging evidence-based and peer-reviewed guidelines created by Harvard-trained psychiatrists to support primary care providers treating behavioral health disorders.

Crawford completed his psychiatry residency training at Harvard and focused his training on the treatment of addictions. He is board certified in both psychiatry and addiction medicine and teaches both at numerous medical schools and residency programs.

Crawford is also an assistant professor of psychiatry at the Drexel University College of Medicine. He has published in various locations, has regularly provided invited talks, including invited testimony to the U.S. Congress, and serves as a member of the legislative and public policy committee for the American Society of Addiction Medicine as well as a member of the Pennsylvania Governor's Behavioral Health Advisory Committee.

Crawford was recognized as a "rising star" in healthcare by receiving the Top 40 Under 40 award from Modern Healthcare in 2024 and received the Francis Maust Service Award from WellSpan Health in 2023.

He and his wife, Abby, earned bachelor's degrees in biology from Millersville in 2009. Mitchell went on to earn a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine with Sigma Sigma Phi national honors, and Abby earned a Doctor of Optometry from Drexel University.

Jason Wicht '98

Graduates from the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and Lombardo College of Business will cross the stage during a ceremony beginning at 5 p.m. Jason Wicht '98 will share his thoughts with them.

Wicht earned a bachelor's degree in communication from Millersville University. He began his career at Comcast - a global media and tech company that reaches hundreds of millions of customers, viewers and guests with world-class connectivity, platforms, content and experiences - as an intern from the University. He then advanced through a series of leadership positions in sales and marketing across the organization.

Over the course of his nearly 30-year career with Comcast, Wicht has played a key role in driving growth and innovation across the organization's residential businesses. He currently serves as executive vice president of growth strategy and operations, where he oversees national customer acquisition, customer lifecycle management and membership strategies, digital experiences and platforms, as well as customer growth performance and competitive analytics.

Wicht's work directly supports the continued evolution of Xfinity, Comcast's flagship consumer brand, which delivers industry-leading broadband, mobile and entertainment platforms and home security services to millions of customers across the United States. His leadership helps shape how Xfinity leverages technology, data and customer insights to drive growth and maintain a competitive edge in a rapidly changing telecommunications landscape.

Wicht also serves as board chairman for the Cable and Telecommunication Association for Marketing and is an alum of the CTAM Executive Management Program at Harvard Business School. He is a dedicated supporter of the Millersville Department of Communication and Theatre, a member of the University's College of Arts and Humanities Advisory Board and an active mentor within the telecommunications and technology fields.
