DeLauro Issues Statement on Veterans Day

WASHINGTON - Today, US Representative Rosa DeLauro issued the following statement recognizing Veterans Day:

"Throughout America's history, whenever our nation asked, our best and bravest have always answered the call. American veterans put on the uniform, serving at home and around the world, to keep us safe, protect our way of life, and defend the ideas of liberty and democracy. All of them sacrificed something-and some made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

"My father Ted DeLauro, an immigrant from Italy, served in the Army and went on to become a captain. The story of his service is like that of so many others-people from all walks of life who stepped up when their country needed them. In Connecticut, we have over 130,000 veterans, and we must never take their service, courage, and selflessness for granted. My gratitude is with every veteran and their families on this day of remembrance."
