It has been a busy March for Brandeis athletes - the university had strong showings in track and field, and fencer Lev BenAvram '26 competed in the NCAA National Collegiate Men's Fencing championships at the University of Notre Dame.
At the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships earlier this month in Birmingham, Ala,, sophomore track and field athlete Sarai Sealy also earned her third first-team All-America honors in the triple jump. Jumping a personal best of 12.18 meters, Sealy, of New York City, finished fourth in the nation despite finding herself in eighth place prior to her last jump. She ultimately placed on the podium for the third time, the highest by a Brandeis competitor at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships since 2019.

At the same meet, Brandeis sophomore Peterly Leroy earned her third All-America honor, as she placed 10th in the 400-meter dash. Improving four places in the span of just one year and narrowly missing the finals qualification by .42 seconds, put a top-eight finish within reach.

BenAvram, a business major and Hebrew language, literature and culture minor from Bethesda, Md., finished in fifth place over the weekend with a 16-7 overall record. That was enough to earn him second-team All-Division All-America honors in men's saber. He just missed a spot in the Final Four by one victory and one additional touch.
Since BenAvram's first year at Brandeis, he has built an impressive history at the NCAA Championships, including being named the Division III Men's Saber Fencer of the Year and earning NCAA All-Division All-America honors last year after finishing 8th nationally. After finishing this season with a 26-9 regular season record, he made the championships for the fourth straight year.
