For students from remote and rural areas, access to safe and affordable accommodation can play an important role in enabling them to pursue higher education.
Recognising this need, a 100-bedded SC Girls Hostel was constructed at Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal West, MANIPUR under the Hostel Component of the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY). The facility is being used by students from different communities, with SC students from far-flung areas of Manipur among the beneficiaries.
Constructed during 2022-23 at a cost of Rs 3.50 Crores under PM-AJAY, the hostel has significantly improved access to higher education for girl students from remote and rural parts of the State. Dhanamanjuri University is one of the reputed institutions in Manipur and attracts students from all districts, making accessible residential facilities an important support for students pursuing higher education.
