Burbank PD News Release: Elderly Woman Dies Following Medical Emergency While Driving

An elderly woman has died as a result of a medical condition while driving a motor vehicle.

On September 14, 2026, at about 3:00 p.m., Burbank police officers and paramedics responded to a report of a single-vehicle traffic collision in a parking garage in the 500 block of South Buena Vista Street.

When officers arrived, they found the driver, an elderly woman, conscious and seated in the driver's seat; however, she was experiencing a medical emergency. Paramedics immediately began life-saving measures; however, their efforts were unsuccessful, and the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the driver's death appears to have resulted from an underlying medical condition and not injuries sustained in the traffic collision.

The decedent has not yet been identified. The Burbank Police Department is working with the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner's Office to identify the decedent and notify her next of kin.

At this time, neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have been a factor in the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Burbank Police Department Investigation Division at 818-238-3210.
