UW, Wyoming SBDC Network to Host Business Workshop in Cody Sept. 17

For anyone contemplating starting a small business, the thought alone can be daunting. However, advice and assistance are available.

Devan Costa-Cargill and Amy Lea will discuss the ins and outs of starting a business during a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network workshop titled "Start and Fund Your Small Business" Wednesday, Sept. 17, from noon-1:30 p.m. in Grizzly Hall at the Park County Library Cody Branch, located at 1500 Heart Mountain St. To register, go here. Registration is free.

The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by the University of Wyoming with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

The workshop will discuss key considerations for launching a small business; different pathways to business ownership; how to prepare for funding; and various sources of capital.

Costa-Cargill is the Wyoming SBDC Network regional director for Big Horn, Hot Springs, Park and Washakie counties.

An entrepreneur and teacher, Costa-Cargill launched her consulting career in the public school system, specifically in special education. For the past 10 years, she operated her own small business, providing consultation and enrichment to families and early educators. Her work with the Wyoming SBDC Network began in April 2021, advising small-business startups through the first important steps of their journey.

Lea is the district director of the U.S. SBA office in Casper.
