When a student pilot's engine began failing over unforgiving mountain terrain, the difference between panic and a safe landing came down to calm, steady guidance. At the Archie League Medal of Safety Award Banquet during Communicating For Safety 2026, controllers Jordan Baldwin and Nick Meyer were honored for working together to keep the pilot informed, encouraged, and headed toward safety. Their teamwork carried a frightened pilot all the way to the ground.
NATCA Northwest Mountain Regional Vice President Stephanie "Steph" Winder presented Jordan Baldwin and Nick Meyer with the Archie League Medal of Safety Award for the Northwest Mountain Region.
