Apply now for energy-water systems research seed funding

Seed funding opportunities are now available from The Idaho Community-Engaged Resilience for Energy-Water Systems (I-CREWS). Made possible by the National Science Foundation and Idaho's Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR), seed funding is available to applicants pursuing research on the intersections and challenges of Idaho's energy-water systems.

Small seed project awards (up to $55,000, one year) are open to emerging and established faculty members who wish to start or continue energy-water systems research projects. Multi-institutional collaboration is a plus (though not required).

Large seed project awards (up to $165,000, over two years) are open to early or mid-career faculty conducting collaborative, multidisciplinary projects.

Basic criteria

  • Address topics directly relevant to energy-water systems
  • Conduct research from Idaho-based institution(s)
  • Demonstrate collaboration or coordination with I-CREWS efforts

Eligibility includes individuals currently involved in I-CREWS as well as those not yet involved. View the I-CREWS website more information.

Deadlines

The deadline for early registration for small seed projects is Nov. 20, 2025; the final deadline for small and large seed applications is Jan. 8, 2026.
