This Golf Game Updates Daily Similar To Wordle

A few nights ago, I sat in my kitchen and realized that it had been quite some time since I'd found something golf-related that made me as giddy as a child on Christmas morning.

I've tested plenty of golf gear this year and this golf-themed game may be my favorite. If you've played Wordle, the concept of Golf Slate will feel familiar. Wordle gives you a puzzle each day and lets you guess a new word every day, share results with your friends and track your progress over time.

Golf Slate has a slightly different setup: it's built as an aesthetic game with unique worlds and experiences. There's a new golf hole to be played each day and you get one attempt to score as low as possible on that specific day's hole.

Golf Slate was created by Dan Reiner who wanted to make a fun game that you can play for a couple of minutes each day. There's an old adage that highlights the benefit of making your bed in the morning: when you do, you start your day off with something good that you can look back on. Similarly, Golf Slate offers a nice start to the day that you can share with friends and family. It may seem novel but a good two minutes in the morning could change your whole day.

The actual in-game aesthetics are great, ranging from a typical golf course feel to dystopian-themed deserts like the image above. There's wind, hazards, even different contours on the green that make putting more difficult. The game itself has only been out for around a month and it's already running seamlessly. As someone who has played PGA Tour 2K regularly, I find this a nice, quick alternative.

I've played every single hole that has been released up to this point and I was impressed by how robust the game is. It's all browser-based so you don't need a separate app. It'll remember your browser session and you can also save your rounds using your Google account. The connection was quick and all my scores were saved on Golf Slate's website.

You can create groups with your friends and family that give you the ability to track daily progress among your circles. After I play the daily Wordle, I have three to five people to whom I send my results in hopes that they'll challenge me. Golf Slate makes this even easier.

The sharing process is so simple that within three minutes of sending an invite, two of my cousins had already played the daily hole and responded with their scores. I hope to build a group of 10 to 15 people who will play every day with me.

After your round, you can share your scorecard, download video highlights of each shot or simply end your session and go about your day. I'm kind of a nerd when it comes to this type of stuff and it's exactly what I want in a daily escape.
