City of Evansville Department of Urban Forestry to Host Twilight Tour at Oak Hill Cemetery

Evansville, Ind. - October 1, 2026 - The City of Evansville Department of Urban Forestry, in partnership with Evansville City Cemeteries and the Evansville Adopt-An-Ash Program, will host their annual Twilight Tour on Saturday, October 24 at 5:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The event offers an educational experience for all ages to kick off the Halloween season. Visitors will enjoy live reenactments highlighting the lives and legacies of some of the most notable individuals buried at the cemetery. Along with the reenactment, there will be a presentation on how these people made Evansville what it is today.

"The Twilight Tour brings local history to life in a way that's both entertaining and educational," said City Arborist Shawn Dickerson. "From the atmosphere of the cemetery to the compelling stories of those laid to rest there, visitors can enjoy a fresh perspective on Evansville's past while supporting efforts to preserve ash trees at Oak Hill Cemetery."

Tickets for the event are $15 for adults, $10 for students, and $5 for children. Tickets may be purchased at www.evansvilleparksfoundation.org/twilight-tours or at the main gate of the cemetery on the night of the event.

Proceeds from the Twilight Tour will support the Evansville Adopt-An-Ash Program and its efforts to protect ash trees at Oak Hill Cemetery from the invasive emerald ash borer. The pest has devastated ash tree populations across the community, threatening an important part of Evansville's urban tree canopy. Funds raised through the event will help preserve these trees and support ongoing efforts to protect the city's natural landscape.
