Governor Gianforte Visits Beaverhead County 4-H on County Tour

DILLON, Mont. - Continuing his 56 County Tour, Governor Greg Gianforte last week visited with Beaverhead County 4-H members ahead of the annual county fair.

"It was great to visit with the folks who make Montana's Biggest Weekend possible and celebrate 4-H members for their hard work ahead of the Beaverhead County Fair," Gov. Gianforte said. "Programs like 4-H help raise the next generation of leaders in our ag community and beyond, I was glad to hear from members about the impact of their involvement."

During the 6-day fair hosted each year in Dillon starting the Wednesday of Labor Day weekend, the Beaverhead County fairgrounds host livestock shows, arena events, 4-H and FFA expos, vendors, exhibits, a carnival, PRCA Rodeo, parades, and an outdoor country concert.

Meeting with 4-H members, fair managers, and representatives from the Dillon Jaycees, the governor heard the group anticipated to welcome four to five thousand attendees at this year's fair. With over 190 4-H members in Beaverhead County, students had the opportunity to show their projects at the fair. Visiting with several members last week, the governor viewed several the steer, sheep, and swine projects.

Supporting programs like 4-H is a top priority for Gov. Gianforte. Serving nearly 20,000 Montana kids in all 56 counties each year, Montana 4-H is the largest out-of-school youth development program in the state. 4-H offers more than 200 different projects and experiences that actively engage youth in learning and developing the life skills needed to prepare for meaningful employment, make a positive impact as leaders in their communities, and become well-informed citizens.

In 2022, the governor contributed a quarter of his annual governor's salary to the Montana 4-H Foundation, a youth development program empowering young Montanans to lead for a lifetime, during his 12 Days of Giving campaign.
