Remembering Albert 'Al' Llorens

The Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois (TRS) extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Albert "Al" Llorens, President of the Illinois Education Association (IEA), who passed away at the age of 73.

Throughout his distinguished career as an educator and leader in Illinois public education, Al dedicated his life to serving students, uplifting educators, and strengthening schools across the state. His leadership within the IEA reflected a deep and enduring commitment to ensuring educators have the support and resources they need to succeed.

"Al Llorens was an advocate for educators and students, and his vision for public education will endure for generations," said Matthew Hunt, TRS Board President, "We honor his service and his commitment to those who dedicated their lives to Illinois classrooms."
