Registration Open for Greensboro Parks Foundation Open Golf Tournament

Registration for the 2026 Greensboro Parks Foundation (GPF) Open is now underway. The event, which will take place Friday, October 9, at Gillespie Golf Course, 306 E. Florida St., aims to raise awareness and funds for the course's ongoing revitalization and improvements.

The tournament features a range of activities, starting with registration and breakfast at 8 am, followed by a shotgun start at 9 am, and an awards ceremony and lunch at 1:30 pm. Awards will include long drive, closest to the pin contests, best men's and women's score, and first and second place team awards.

Entry for the event is $320 per four-person team, or $80 per player, and mulligans are for sale at $10 each (maximum of two per player). To sign up as a player or sponsor, visit https://greensboroparksfoundation.org/golf/.

New for this year's tournament, the GPF offers a pre-tournament short course social that will take place from noon to 2 pm on Thursday, October 8. The event will include a complimentary lunch, Cleveland wedge clinic, range balls, unlimited short course play, giveaways, and a DJ.

Since opening in 1941, Gillespie Golf Course has served as a City recreation destination and holds a significant place in local civil rights history. In 1955 Dr. George Simkins and five other Black men challenged the course's whites-only policy, which set the stage for integration and inclusion in Greensboro's recreational spaces. With funding from this year's tournament, the Foundation will support course renovations designed to enhance accessibility and expand programming options, including upgrades to the driving range and course infrastructure.
