Rosen Statement on Deal to Secure Imminent Release of Hostages, Israel-Gaza Ceasefire

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement applauding news of a ceasefire deal reached in the Israel-Gaza War, which started after Hamas's horrific terrorist attack on Israel in 2023 that killed over 1,200 people. The deal means that all of the remaining hostages held in Hamas captivity for over two years will finally be returned home:

"On October 7, 2023, Hamas carried out the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust - murdering scores of innocent civilians and taking hundreds of men, women, and children hostage. After more than 730 agonizing days, we expect the remaining hostages to finally come home," said Senator Rosen. "As recently as yesterday and countless times over the last two years, I have sat with these families, listened to their stories, and met with survivors who endured captivity. Their strength and perseverance have inspired my work in the U.S. Senate to keep focus on their plight and to push for their safe return.

"This moment is not just a victory for those families - it is a step toward healing for Israelis, Palestinians, people throughout the Middle East, and for the world. I am grateful for the efforts that have brought us here, and urge the Trump Administration to continue its leadership in these negotiations. We must continue to ensure Israel's security, surge humanitarian aid to ease the suffering of innocent Palestinians in Gaza, and pursue steps toward a lasting peace that finally brings this conflict to an end," Senator Rosen concluded.

Senator Jacky Rosen has been a steadfast advocate for the safety and security of Israeli and American hostages and a vocal opponent of Hamas's acts of terror. Earlier this year, a bipartisan resolution Rosen led in the Senate to demand the safe release of the remaining hostages held by Hamas has advanced out of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. In January 2025, she expressed strong support for a deal between Israel and Hamas to release hostages and pause fighting, reaffirming America's commitment to Israel's security. In October 2023, following a visit to Israel where she met with families of those taken captive, she introduced a bipartisan resolution, which later passed the Senate, condemning Hamas's attacks and demanding the release of hostages. That same month, she also joined a bipartisan letter urging President Biden to do everything possible to rescue American hostages. These efforts reflect Senator Rosen's ongoing leadership in pushing for accountability, supporting U.S. allies, and working to bring innocent civilians home.
