On 12 June 2026, Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Acting Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, had discussions with Mr. Freddy Roosemont, Director-General of the Immigration Office of the Ministry of the Interior of the Kingdom of Belgium. Also in attendance were H.E. Mr. Michel Parys, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Thailand, and officials from the Belgian Immigration Office and the Embassy's Consular Section.

Both sides discussed ways to advance the Memorandum of Understanding on Migration Cooperation between Thailand and Belgium, as well as opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between the immigration authorities of the two countries. They also exchanged views on developments regarding visa-free travel to the Schengen Area for holders of Thai ordinary passports and discussed prospects for future high-level exchanges between Thailand and Belgium.
