Household Hazardous Waste Event 2025
Keep Cobb Beautiful will host its annual Household Hazardous Waste Event on October 18, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Jim Miller Park in Marietta. During this event, we accept common household hazardous waste, including paint, cleaning products, insecticides, gasoline, fire extinguishers, and more.
Event - FAQs
Q: Can participants take paint or chemicals if we see something we want?
No. Once materials are dropped off, they become the property of the hazardous waste contractor. For safety reasons, the public is not allowed to take these items, which may be hazardous or improperly labeled.
Q: Why is the event only held once a year? Why not every weekend?
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) events are very costly for the County to provide free to residents. Each item dropped off requires safe and responsible recycling or disposal. Plans are underway for a CHaRM (Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials) facility in Cobb County, which will eventually allow residents to drop off HHW items by appointment throughout the year.
Q: What does registration time mean? Will I have to wait in line?
Registration provides you with a recommended arrival time, not an exact appointment. HHW events are very popular. Assigning arrival times helps spread out traffic and avoid long backups at the site.
Q: Why don't you check registration for every vehicle?
We reserve the right to check registration if the system is abused. However, doing so for every vehicle would slow down the line, create additional strain on volunteers, and complicate logistics. The purpose of registration is to manage traffic, minimize wait times, and ensure as many residents as possible can be served without exceeding the vendor's capacity.
Q: Do I have to be a Cobb County resident to participate?
Yes. HHW and Community Recycling events are free for residents of Cobb County. Some items, such as televisions, may require a fee determined by the vendor. Any fees will be noted in event advertisements.
Q: Do I have to register to participate?
Yes. Registration guarantees your spot to drop off materials.
Q: What are the location and hours of the event?
The HHW event will be held at Jim Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Rd., Marietta, GA 30008, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Please arrive at the recommended time listed on your registration confirmation.
Q: What if registration is closed and I can't sign up?
Registration is limited to the number of vehicles the vendor can serve. If registration is closed, all available slots for the October 18 event have been filled. Please visit the Keep Cobb Beautiful website for future event dates and registration opportunities.
