PODCAST: We're looking back 30 years to the dedication of (new) Navajo Bridge

Given my love of Marble Canyon, the Vermilion Cliffs and Echo Cliffs, and highway history, I go full fanboy when I'm around people who were lucky enough to have been at the Sept. 14, 1995, dedication of the newer Navajo Bridge on US 89A. It just so happens that I work with two of them: Doug Nintzel and Ed Green, who serve as host and guest on this week's episode of On the Road With ADOT.

Ed, now ADOT's Hazardous Material Coordinator, discusses his role setting up the sound systems used at ceremonies that the Navajo Nation and ADOT held on different sides of the bridge. It just so happens that Doug, our host, was there in his pre-ADOT job as a reporter with KTAR Radio.

Doug wrote this lovely ADOT Blog post about Ed and a DIY photo panorama he keeps in his workspace showing Navajo Bridge and its predecessor on the day of the celebrations. He and Ed get into that and more in this memorable episode looking at a very significant day in ADOT history.

You can subscribe to episodes of On the Road with ADOT through Apple Podcasts and Spotify. You also can find episodes at azdot.gov/Podcast and featured in ADOT Blog posts.
