13.07.2026

Talks were held at the Central House of Officers between the Chief of the General Staff - First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus, Major General Pavel Muraveiko, and the First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev.

The parties discussed the current state of bilateral military cooperation and outlined ways to enhance further collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

Major General Pavel Muraveiko noted that Belarusian-Azerbaijani cooperation is largely built on the trusting relationship between the leaders of the two countries, providing a solid foundation for expanding cooperation, including between the two defence ministries.

«As military, we have a duty to follow the course set by our сommanders-in-сhief and continue developing our cooperation. I am confident that the areas in which we are already working together represent only the first step toward broader and more dynamic interaction. The activities included in our joint cooperation plan are now being implemented more actively than ever before. A significant contribution to this progress has been made through your personal efforts, the efforts of the Minister of Defence of Azerbaijan, and the warm relationship that has developed between us as the heads of our defence departments»

Colonel General Karim Valiyev thanked the Belarusian side for the warm welcome and emphasized that Belarus and Azerbaijan should continue strengthening cooperation, expanding the exchange of experience, and preserving their shared historical memory, which forms the foundation of the brotherly relations between the two nations.

Following the talks, the parties honored the memory of Soviet soldiers who fell during the Great Patriotic War by laying wreaths and flowers at the Victory Monument in Minsk.
