Got a garage full of clutter and kids who can't stop talking about Halloween? On Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, West Jordan is helping you tackle both. Start your morning by clearing out the junk at Dumpster Day, then bring the family to paint pumpkins with West Jordan Police. Both events are free.
When: Saturday, Oct. 24, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Where: Public Works Maintenance Yard, 7960 S. 4000 W. Cost: Free for West Jordan residents
Fall cleanup season is here, and this is the last free Dumpster Day of the year. General waste and green waste dumpsters will be ready to go, and staff will be on site to direct traffic and help you unload.
Green waste gets turned into mulch, so keep it separate from the rest of your trash, and please don't bag it. Green waste bags are not accepted.
Bring: Proof of residency or City employment (driver's license, utility bill or City ID badge).
What you can bring: Most non-hazardous household waste, including tree limbs, shrubs, grass clippings, leaves and other yard waste, furniture, household items, building materials and limited appliances.
Leave these at home: Mattresses and box springs, refrigerators or anything with Freon, tires, batteries (including lithium-ion), hazardous, toxic or flammable materials, sod, dirt, rocks, concrete, treated wood and railroad ties, tanks, drums and barrels, animal waste, and vehicles of any kind.
See the full list of accepted and non-accepted items at westjordan.utah.gov/garbage.
When: Saturday, Oct. 24, 10 a.m. to noon Where: West Jordan Police Department, 8040 S. Redwood Rd. Cost: Free
After your dumpster day run, swing by the police department for a fun, family-friendly morning. Kids can paint a pumpkin, meet West Jordan police officers and get to know the people who keep our community safe.
Costumes are encouraged, so this is the perfect excuse to break out the Halloween outfit a week early.
Get all the details at westjordan.utah.gov/calendar/event/pumpkins-with-police.
Get to the Dumpster Day event early, then head to Redwood Road for pumpkin painting. You'll finish the morning with a cleaner garage and a pumpkin on the porch! Happy Halloween!
