Chinese Consul General in Brisbane Sun Zhaoyang Attends 2026 'Lotus Prize' Award Ceremony

On 18 September 2026, Chinese Consulate-General Dr SUN Zhaoyang attended 2026 "Lotus Prize"award ceremony jointly held with Queensland Department of Education, awarded certificates and gifts to the recipients and gave an address. Deputy Consul-General Ms Li Suyun also attended the ceremony.

Dr SUN expressed congratulations to all the recipients and said that in the past three years the Lotus Prize has become a name brand in Queensland Education and a good example across Australia. Queenslanders have been ambassadors of China-Australia and China-Queensland relations, sowing the seeds of long-standing friendship. China is a peace-loving nation and like Australia，was a victim of World war II. We cherish peace and oppose hegemony. China is forging its own path to modernization. Let's experience it, see it, and feel it together.

The representative from the Department of Education said the Department was willing to support "Lotus Prize". The students hoped that they could have more opportunities to broaden their understanding of Chinese language and culture.
