More than 1,000 IPDN Cadets and Humanitarian Aid Deployed through a Care Flight Using Lion Air Wide-Body Airbus A330 Aircraft

T A N G E R A N G, 03 January 2026 - Driven by compassion rather than merely operating flights, Lion Air, part of Lion Group, in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, carried out a humanitarian mission through a CSR flight to support the acceleration of social recovery in several areas of northern Sumatra affected by disasters.

This initiative represents the tangible presence of both the state and the aviation industry at a time when communities are in need. In this mission, Lion Air, as part of Lion Group, operated aircraft to transport cadets, with onward flights to various destinations served by the Lion Group fleet. Lion Air deployed two wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft and one Boeing 737 aircraft to transport 1,138 cadets from the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN), along with humanitarian logistics assistance, to the affected regions.

All transportation of cadets and humanitarian aid was carried out free of charge, as a form of Lion Air's direct contribution to the people of Indonesia. Lion Air fully covered the operational costs of the flights as part of its corporate social commitment to supporting disaster response and post-disaster recovery.

Air Transportation as a Bridge of Care

In regions with limited access, air transportation is essential. Aircraft are not merely a means of transport, but a bridge that connects assistance with lives. Through its network and fleet readiness, Lion Group ensures that aid and personnel arrive quickly, safely, and in a coordinated manner.

This initiative also supports the acceleration of social and economic activities, as faster social recovery enables communities to resume daily activities, revive local economies, and strengthen regional resilience.

The mission does not only transport logistics, but also delivers trained human resources. The presence of IPDN cadets symbolizes the state's presence within communities and serves as a driving force for social recovery through community assistance, capacity building, and support for public services during the post-disaster transition period.

In the context of disaster management, social recovery cannot rely solely on physical assistance. Presence, empathy, and collective action are equally essential. IPDN cadets are expected to actively assist communities, support on-site coordination, and help restore the social fabric affected by the disaster.

The collaboration between Lion Air and the Ministry of Home Affairs reflects a strategic synergy between the air transportation sector and state institutions. This cooperation demonstrates that social responsibility is not solely the government's role, but requires the active participation of the business sector. Through this initiative, Lion Air fulfills its role as part of the national ecosystem that supports social stability, human development, and national solidarity.

More Than 25 Years of Building the Nation

For more than 25 years, Lion Group has not only connected cities and islands across Indonesia, but has also been actively involved in humanitarian, disaster response, and social missions. This CSR activity continues Lion Air's long-term commitment to growing together with communities and contributing to Indonesia.

The CSR programs are designed to be relevant, contextual, and impactful, focusing on real needs in the field: delivering aid, mobilizing human resources, and supporting sustainable social recovery.

In times of disaster, mutual cooperation is the nation's greatest strength. Lion Air's CSR initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs demonstrates that the right, sincere, and well-directed collaboration can deliver real solutions for the people and strengthen national solidarity.
