Temporary closure announced for yard waste sites

(COLUMBIA, MO)-

The City of Columbia Solid Waste Utility has scheduled dates for yard waste materials at the Parkside and Capen Park drop-off sites to be ground into mulch. Drop-off sites will be closed to the public while grinding is performed to ensure efficient operations by the contractor and to ensure the safety of users at the facility. The current closing schedule is planned as follows:

March 16-19- Landfill yard waste site (5700 Peabody Rd.)
- All sites open

March 20 and March 23- Parkside location (1001 Parkside Drive)
- Parkside closed
- Customers directed to the Landfill or Capen Park sites

March 24-25- Capen Park location (1900 Capen Park Drive)
- Capen Park closed
- Customers directed to the Landfill or Parkside sites

Signage will be posted at the Capen Park and Parkside locations while each site is offline during the grinding event, directing customers to either the other in-town park location or to the Landfill.

The schedule is tentative and may be adjusted as work progresses by the vendor performing the grinding activities.
