Attorney General Peter F. Neronha, Governor Daniel J. McKee, House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi, Senate President Valarie J. Lawson, the Rhode Island Department of Health, and the Executive Office of Health and Human Services today released the following statement about Roger Williams Medical Center and Fatima Hospital:
"Yesterday, the Centurion Foundation received signed bond purchase agreements sufficient to finance and close on its purchase of Roger Williams and Fatima. These agreements, providing more than $100 million in financing, represent significant and necessary progress towards ensuring that our critical safety-net hospitals remain open and able to serve Rhode Islanders.
"Based on these developments, and after conferring with the Governor and General Assembly leadership, the Attorney General expects to file, together with counsel for the bankruptcy estate, a proposed stipulation and order in federal bankruptcy court in Texas which, if approved, will extend the transfer date of the hospitals to next Friday, March 6, 2026 to allow Centurion an additional week to close on the purchase of these hospitals."
