Spillway Collapse and Repair on Route 110 in Shelton

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the continued repair of an existing spillway and added drainage on Route 110 (Howe Avenue) in Shelton on Monday April 20, 2026. An additional drainage culvert and basin will be installed to better control runoff.

In addition, an underground splash pad will be added during low water flow to increase the service life of the underground structure.

The initial phase of the work is to begin April 20, 2026, and last for approximately one week. The second (underground phase) will be completed when the current high-water level subsides.

The work is being performed by Mohawk Northeast, Inc.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

Motorists can expect a closure of southbound Route 110 from Center Street to Cornell Street on Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning April 20, 2026. Traffic will be detoured .Northbound Route 110 will remain open to traffic, and preference will be given to emergency vehicles.

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
