Suozzi, Chair of Pakistan Caucus, Marks Eid al-Adha in Congressional Record

June 8, 2026

"Our country is stronger and more successful because of the Pakistani-American diaspora and the values of hard work, family, and faith they bring."

Washington, DC - As Chair of the Pakistan Caucus, Congressman Tom Suozzi (NY-03) entered a statement into the Congressional Record marking Eid al-Adha, extending Eid Mubarak wishes to Muslim Americans and recognizing the contributions of Muslim and Pakistani Americans to communities across the nation.

In his statement, delivered during Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Suozzi highlighted the values of faith, sacrifice, mercy, and devotion that are central to Eid al-Adha and celebrated the important role Muslim Americans and Pakistani Americans play in strengthening communities across the United States.

"Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, is the holiest holiday in Islam," said Suozzi. "At a time when the world can feel divided, holidays like this remind us of our shared humanity. Eid Mubarak, and may God bless all those celebrating."

Suozzi also wished those undertaking the Hajj pilgrimage a safe and meaningful journey and expressed solidarity with the Muslim American community following the recent shooting at an Islamic center in San Diego.

The full statement was entered into the Congressional Record on June 2, 2026 and can be read here and below:

HON. THOMAS R. SUOZZI
of New York

in the House of Representatives

Tuesday, June 2, 2026

Mr. SUOZZI: Mr. Speaker, I rise today, as Chair of the Pakistan Caucus, during Asian American Heritage Month, to wish Muslim Americans a blessed Eid al-Adha. Happy Eid (Eid Mubarak).

Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, is the holiest holiday in Islam. It commemorates faith, mercy, sacrifice, and devotion to God. Eid traditions include prayer, spending time with family and loved ones, wearing new clothes, and sharing meals and charitable gifts with those who are less fortunate.

This is also a sacred time of reflection when many Muslims start their Hajj, or holy pilgrimage to Mecca, a central pillar of Islam.

I wish those making the Hajj a safe and meaningful pilgrimage. As Chair of the Pakistan Caucus, I am especially proud to recognize the enormous contributions of Pakistani Americans and Muslim Americans to our nation during this Asian American Heritage Month. Our country is stronger and more successful because of the Pakistani-American diaspora and the values of hard work, family, and faith they bring.

I also want to join the Muslim American community in mourning after the awful shooting at the San Diego Islamic Center just a few days ago. At a time when the world can feel divided, holidays like this remind us of our shared humanity.

Eid Mubarak, and may God bless all those celebrating.
