Titan's transit of Saturn early Saturday morning will proceed the upcoming opposition of the planet with Earth on the Sun. Telescope viewing of Saturn is expected to be outstanding during Saturday night's Star Party at Jack C. Davis Observatory.
Saturn has been in the news a lot lately because of the the transit of its largest moon. The latest transit of Titan ends early Saturday morning, but the spectacular ringed planet will again be the focus on Saturday night during a Star Party at Jack C. Davis Observatory.
Viewing of Saturn is expected to be stellar because of a partly cloudy-to-clear forecast and the fact that the planet will be nearing its opposition, where Earth is directly aligned between the Sun and Saturn.
While Saturn can possibly be viewed in the Eastern sky with binoculars, JCDO's telescopes will be able to provide more features of the planet.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the free celestial party at 2269 Vanpatten Ave., on the northern end of WNC's Carson City campus. #iamwnc
